Name
Prody dreams three times of a new and more authentic Innu settlement, to replace the mal conceived Davis Inlet (designed after colonial mind). It takes severe negotiations with the federal authority, but with Mennonite Central Committee (among others) they succeed in design and realization of the new Natuashish. Prody’s dreaming, his consulting with the band council and their thinking resolve make a story that fits biblical narrative.
One of the legal issues is that they are not allowed to mortgage their land because formally the Queen of England is the owner.
The name INNU is only one out of many indigenous tribe names that imply something like ‘people of the earth / center of the earth’. That is where an Old Testament scholar exclaimed ‘Adama – people of the earth’
